쉿, 바람이 자

온종일 빈 거리를 서성이며

닫힌 창들을 함부로 두드리다 막상

잠들면 대담한 입맞춤을 꿈꾸는

겨울바람의 얕은 잠. 겨우내

피렌체에서 날아온 엽서

같은 것은 없었지

붉고 둥근 지붕 위의 낙조가

아름답겠다, 라고 짐작할 뿐

바라보기에는 너무 밝은 태양

속에 상채기 같은 흑점이

아직 거기 있겠다, 라고 어림할 뿐

바람이 먼 대륙에서 가져온 것은

한 자락 떠돌던 웃음과

웃음 너머의 것이 보일 것만 같은

섣부른 안도감, 아무도

퇴로 없는 사랑을 하지 않는다는 사실(事實),

사실 뒤에 도사린

더 사실적(寫實的)인 마음에 대한 두려움

햇빛 환하게 개인 날 우리는

디미니쉬드 화음 같어

단삼도의 중첩이

언뜻

불협으로 느껴지는

In a Clear Evening

Psst, the wind's asleep.

Having prowled the empty streets all day long

recklessly knocking upon closed windows,

in its light sleep, the wind dreams of a daring kiss

though not of a postcard from Firenze.

Assuming that the twilight upon the red round roofs

would still be beautiful and the unseen black spots

still be there in the sun like an ancient wound,

I accept what wind fetched from far continents;

a streak of wandering laughter,

a sense of relief that it may be visible beyond laughter,

a news that nobody loves without a path to retreat,

a fear of minds curtained behind facts,

a fear that is more realistic than reality.

In a clear evening such as this,

we bear a resemblance, you and I, to a diminished chord

whose piles of minor triads, at a glance,

feel like an utter dissonance.
